The Funky Truth

I've watched this series since it started, but it's become increasingly woke, to the point where it's painful to watch without cringing. It seems at least 90% of the LGBTQ population of America live in Seattle and frequent the hospital. It really is ridiculous and not realistic. For me though it reached its climax of painful watching at series 19, with it's obsession with trying to promote abortion. The misrepresentation of this is very irresponsible, the creators are morally bankrupt.

The main issue with this show is that it isn't believable that these boys are all crazy in love with Belly. She's annoying, really immature, selfish, lacking in empathy and self-awareness. She goes from one brother to another with barely a second thought or any care for their feelings. She's really cold and lacking in any depth or warmth. It could be the actress and the way she's playing the part, but she's a very unlikeable character. Only someone with no moral compass would sleep with one brother and then go after the other one and show very little consideration or conscience about it.

1st season was the best, without a doubt. The two main characters, Simon and Daphne had good chemistry and the overall story was done well. Season 2 was ok. Quite entertaining but I didn't find the two love leads as enthralling personally. Season 3 was quite painful to behold. Penelope and Colin really don't have any chemistry at all. The love scenes were cringe worthy. The Lady Whistledown side story was quite boring and tiresome.

Finally a game to TV adaptation done well! Fallout gets it all right, without being bogged down by woke! Having a woman in the brotherhood was a bit of woke that could've been done without, but didn't ruin the series. The characters are all great, nuanced and very well acted. It's refreshing to have a strong main female character without the need for her to be a girl boss who emasculates the male characters. I just pray that they keep it all up for season two and don't ruin it.

I enjoyed it to a point. However, it's a woke fest and all about girl power. Feminism portrayed right can be great to see, but when it's self-important, bratty girls being obnoxious and selfish, it's a big turn off. I say this as a woman. SPOILERS Warning!... Unfortunately it went downhill when it became apparent that the main character, Nan, is a lying, cheating, selfish, self-absorbed brat. The real hero of the show is Theo, a man who despite the expectations for a Duke during that time, chooses to not care about his image and wants to be with the woman he loves, regardless of the consequences. That showed more courage than anything the brash, self-important American girls did. Sadly the woman he loves is Nan who is happy to use him for the power and privilege he can offer. I'm not sure I'll watch the second season, as the characters aren't very likeable. The only way it could be redeemed for me is if she starts to appreciate Theo and actually treats him with some decency.
