The story is reflective of my own Fathers journey during the second world war when he was taken from his home in Grudziadz Poland as a young boy around 1940 and taken to Germany as forced labour. The book starts with Mathew Zajac being taken by his father back to Poland in the early 1960's and crossing the border at Slubice Poland in his Fathers Vauxhall Cresta car, the same journey our father took us on and by coincidence also in a Vauxhall Cresta
