I was enticed to watch this movie because it was often referred to as a "reimagining of Frankenstein." I suppose it was at its core, but this extremely well executed thriller took me down a dark path I didn't expect, which is something I really appreciate. It wasn't scary because of some reanimated "monster", but terribly scary in it's portrayal of how a seemingly well adjusted human would react to unspeakable grief. How far would you go to bring back someone you love?
I haven't stopped thinking about it. It really hits hard at the crux where science meets ethics.
Marin Ireland and Judy Reyes in the two leads are amazing. Highly recommended.
