Lower Decks captures the feel of TOS and TNG in a way that modern Trek does not (which is not to say that they are bad, just that they are different). If you are a Star Trek fan, or even someone who has never seen an episode of Trek, I highly recommend you watch this show. It works from a comedy standpoint, and a Trek standpoint.
Also, if the finale has still not been spoiled for you, you have A LOT to look forward to.
