The first few chapters of the book give several examples of how Hutchinson was groomed, from an early age, to be a compliant “good girl”, a follower who seems to be devoid of any critical thinking skills. These traits stay a part of her personality into adulthood, and are a huge part of how she ended up as Meadows’ personal assistant. Knowing when to offer an opinion, when to “go along” with things she should know (on some level) are fundamentally unethical, are her strong suit. She could have resigned or been a whistle blower many times over her tenure but chose not to, as some degree of power in her position gave her self-perceived credibility, in my opinion. Cassidy Hutchinson is not a hero, she is not someone who was “brave”, she is someone who still holds awful, anti-American views and lacks what a true patriot stands for.
