Um...no. Just no. The fact that the theater had 25 people on opening night had me puzzled, UNTIL.. To be clear, I love, LOVE, all things Broadway. However this movie had far too little resemblance to the broadway hit musical, to save it from being a flop. The story line is confusing and hard to follow for those not already exposed to the CATS production and truthfully, almost as confusing for those who are. The masses will disagree, but I felt the humor that James Corden and Rebel Willis injected were some of the most memorable bits for me. There WAS great tap dancing, and of course the talented “Victoria”, who’s dancing was tragically left not fully able to be appreciated by weird camera angles. I waited for T.S. the entire movie and was underwhelmed. Finally, Jennifer Hudson’s first appearance in the movie was, for me, uncomfortably over-acted and over-sang. Her finale’ was fine. She hit a few high notes that we all expect from her, but then it was over. Anticlimactic at best, sorry guys.
