I do not find this film laughable as another reviewer commented. The two men who are speaking out about their abuse clearly stated that they did not have repressed memories. They remembered every step of the way and every year of their life what had happened . A repressed memory, a real repressed memory, is when abuse happens at a very young age and then it stops and the person goes into a state of psychological denial and doesn’t think about it and unconsciously almost forgets about it and then sometime later in life a real memory can surface when a person is older and feels more stable and secure in life . They both remembered every step of the way it wasn’t repressed, they chose to protect him and when they were called forward as witnesses they both decided to lie because they wanted to protect Michael and they didn’t want him to go to jail because they loved him .One of them may have been having an affair with the niece as another reviewer mentioned but that doesn’t mean that he wasn’t being abused by Michael. You can also clearly see the love that both of these men have still for Michael and had for Michael and how difficult it was for them to keep this inside until they both became fathers and realized the vulnerability that they could clearly see through looking in the eyes of their own children, how it was abuse and it wasn’t a “romantic” sexual relationship as in an adult to adult relationship . you can see them clearly working through their emotions in an honest open manner. For anybody who is currently being sexually abused or who was in the past I hope this film gives them strength to tell the truth and know it wasn’t their fault. I hope these mothers come to terms of some kind of forgiveness for themselves but no adult should be letting their child sleep in a bed with a grown man.
