A perfect mix of romance, magic, battle, and adventure. With Meilin's paranoia and sarcasm, reading this book through her perspective is very enjoyable. Not to mention the writing style is GORGEOUS. I think we have the next J.K. Rowling on our hands.
I remember reading the description and thinking 'Wow, kind of sounds like Mulan." Then I read the authors note and immediately felt dumb, haha.
Can we get a round of applause for the cover art? It's absolutely stunning, and the perfect matching font. Also, with the copy I got, the pages had flame artwork on the tips, creating a beautiful canvas when closed.
In conclusion, this book is the pure definition of five stars. Beautiful writing, art, and plot. This actually might be one of the best books I've ever read, and that's saying a lot. Even though a sequel wouldn't be fit for this book in my opinion, I hope for many more books published by this author.
PS: You do not know how upset I was when one of the pages bent ðŸ˜.
