Battlefield needs to bring back large-scale destructible environments (levolution) or face continuing towards being a 3rd rate franchise. Whereas maps like Caspian Border, Operation Firestorm, and so many more pluck on the heart strings of Battlefield vets like myself, I can forget about 2042's maps over an afternoon.
I don't mind 2042 as much as the average gamer but it's still most easily comparable with other modern war Battlefield titles: Battlefield 3, which is almost 12 years old and Battlefield 4 at almost 10 years. The fact that there is even a substantial argument that these decade-old titles play better, feel better, ARE better should have been a wake-up call for DICE... But time has shown us again and again, with LotR Conquest, Star Wars Battlefront (2015), Titanfall 1 and 2 (and still bitter about it), a publishing deal with EA Games isn't a business partnership, it's more like an abusive relationship.
