There’s no doubt Evan Peters is amazing in this and probably had to go to dark and deep places to fill this role. Many people will find the sheer undertaking problematic, and more will likely struggle to watch the unflinchingly honest depictions of all the crimes that occurred.
Nonetheless, the acting from the whole cast is nothing short of incredible, and I found it worth the watch due to important messages around some of the darkest parts of humanity: serial killers and the disturbing impacts of childhood trauma/development as well as the infuriating circumstances around our society and its systems that contributed to this utterly terrifying true story.
Hopefully viewers’ main takeaway will be to use what we’ve learned in this difficult watch to make sure nothing like this happens again, and to further prioritize the impact on victims and their families.
