Dumbo is a wonderful film that I've loved tremendously. Whether your a fan of the original or it's your first time seeing it, I highly recommend it. The film does a magnificent job of making an old classic a tad bit more modern with some extra twists from Tim Burton. Although the story plot alters quite a bit compared to the original, it is not too surprising given that Disney has chosen to go the 'real life remake' pattern like their other remakes. Take the movie with a grain of salt and enjoy it for what it is meant to be. A movie meant to be enjoyed for fun.
With that said, the topics of the film are heavy and emphasizes a lot of concerns based around animal cruelty within the circus. However, as all Disney films go, they always have a good ending to them. The emphasis on the more 'scarier' parts are to frighten the audience to make them understand how our protagonists feel during the course of the film.
I look forward to buying the film upon release to Amazon or DVD.
