For the past 11 years i've always come to this game. It's my favorite series of all time. However: Deadrising is the best one in the series. Although i'll admit my nostalgia trips might make me a bit biased, this game is absolutely incredible. There's a certain feeling of awe that overcomes the player as they're thrown into Willamette mall. A feeling of helplessness as they're tasked with fighting against the zombie outbreak as well as the people who've gone crazy from it. You play as Frank West; an Americanized photojournalist with a knack for telling seemingly great stories. You discover many survivors who each are unique, different parts of Willamette which feel lively even during the zombie apocalypse. The gameplay is tense, yet still fun, as you have a choice between just killing zombies or doing the story missions. The graphics, although old, still hold up to today's standards. Deadrising is a series for players who don't take themselves always seriously, a series for someone who just enjoys a great story and world. Although i've played this game on and off for YEARS now- i still feel like a kid in a candy store whenever i'm dropped back into Willamette. Perhaps it's the familiarity that i'm such a big fan of; i know almost everything in this game, and that probably makes it more enjoyable for me at least. I'm not sure. Since i first got an xbox 360 in 2008- this game has been my #1. If you're tired of chaotic games of 2020 that have no real direction, and want something that's edgy yet enjoyable, pick this up! You won't regret it.
When i'm on my death bed, i will hopefully have a copy of the original Deadrising to play. And before I die, my last words will be:
"I've covered wars, y'know."
