Overall, I found this a weak next instalment of the Star Wars franchise. And, I was looking forward to seeing something outside the Skywalker saga.
The plot was meant to be a thriller or murder mystery, yet we learnt early on who the assasin was, and then turned more into a drama about the twin sisters. In saying that the main characters Mae and Osha seemed to have mixed or misunderstood intentions about what side they should be on.
Please let it be known that the Jedi are the good guys and the Sith are the bad guys. The reason why I am writing that is because for some reason there is a blurring of this in this show, which leads to confusion of the characters intentions.
As the episodes continued it seems that these misunderstandings then have become the entire crux of the show. Even to the point where the girls swapped allegiances, perhaps understandably, but I argue the swiftness of their actions and their reasons behind it, as their were no on screen moments that gave the viewers an understanding of their actions.
The Jedi are the good guys. The Sith are the bad guys. There is a reason for archetypal characters in stories. There really was a failure in this show to portray who was actually good and who was bad.
This actually led me to thinking about the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and their reasons for having the codes to define and use the force. Maybe, Disney has decided to move away from this entirely as this may not want to represent their definition of the Star Wars universe as it was done originally and has it has been for some time, however I feel if they move too far away from the archetypes it could be more unpleasant viewing.
I am willing to watch a second season, but please consider the Star Wars fan base and what Star Wars really means. Please provide us with a hero, or in this case if required a heroine who must struggle against adversity and eventually win.
