Great game so far and great story so far, but the building is too ridiculous. I can’t imagine a child has the attention span for that let alone the amount of menu fumbling that you go through just to build a basic item or equips a bomb to an arrow. I really wanted them to get rid of breaking items, this is an additional irritant to an already over complicated system of weapon creation and once again menu fumbling.
I’m also not a young gamer anymore. Maybe someone 10 years younger than me can do this and I can’t. I’m just struggling to see who this game is for. Hard core fans of the franchise will buy it and love it, like myself, and the story is pretty good so far. But my 10 year old self would lose interest if this was my first or second Zelda game. This is a mix of a baby souls game + some building game + Zelda with over complicated controls. Graphically, it’s pushing what the original switch can do. Losing frames is not very fun and pulls me out of the game.
My play through is yet to be finished, I know it sounds like a lot of complaining, but it deserves 4 stars because it is still beautiful and made me emotional at points. That sort of trigger coming from a video game sets a high standard. not many other games I’ve played can match that sort of output.
