Brewster McCloud features Bud Cort (Harold and Maud) as a modern day Icarus, with Sally Kellerman as his mentor angel, Shelley Duvall as his love interest, and most eccentric supporting cast. Director Robert Altman seems to relish the elliptical narrative, peppered along the way with wry commentary on contemporary society and the timeless human condition. While Altman's pacing can be frustrating at times, there are moments of greatness, and those who “get it” should be amply rewarded.
