Oh my gawwwddd!!! This show is by far the absolute best series I've ever watched. And I've watched a LOT of tv! Unc/Jerome deserves awards as do Franklin and Leon. A couple predictable moments but I tend to predict a lot of stuff when I'm watching anything at all. This show brought up so many emotions- made me laugh hysterically, made me sad, angry, anxious, biting my nails, content, blissful, resentful, incredulous, shocked, amazed, in awe etc. Legit, every emotion possible I experienced at some point in this series.
I actually attempted to watch this series at least a dozen times, and failed within the first episode or the first few. I would try it a few times and keep falling asleep, finding it maybe a bit slow to start, and then put it on the back burner for a couple months or a year. I would then go back to it and attempt to rewatch at S.1 EP. 1 and the cycle would repeat. Eventually, I forced myself thru the first 3 on a Sunday morning early (only time I don't fall asleep watching tv). At the 3rd episode, I was hooked. I could not get enough! I watched all 5 seasons in about 10 days ..even my husband was getting mad saying to wait for him. Then I located the 6th season and watched up until the 3rd to last episode and awaited each new one each week until yesterday - the season finale.
I was quite familiar with the Crack Epidemic and the CIA conspiracy to fund the illegal Nicaraguan war/Contras, but this show was something else when it got into it. I think we are at a pivotal time in our world, and as a result it made the show that much more interesting- granted you could link a lot of the past and intergenerational cycles, towards this bullcrap facilitated by the scummy US govt.
I was on edge after finishing. Couldn't sleep all night. So much emotion and I was all over the place. I don't want to give anything way and spoil it but omg just watch! And Jerome is by far the funniest most amazing character ever out on TV. Seeing him with his hamburger phone was something else lol.
Please watch ! Get yourself thru the 1st 3 episodes and you will be hooked. And John Singleton is a genius! Love how they put that little Boyz in the Hood nod at the end!
Don't wait just watch 👍
