Hilarious. This is a classic comedy. There are a lot of jokes about Hitler and the nazis so be ready for that, but it never comes across as antisemitism. Half that comedy comes from making fun of Hitler, and just from how outrageous it would be that a show like springtime for hitler would ever make it to broadway. This is a great watch.

This is a pretty 80s comedy. But it has a lot of good laughs and some genuinely nice emotional moments. You’re never bored or confused, it’s a fun time, and that’s exactly what I want in a comedy.

So. The plot is kinda dumb and some things don’t make sense, but it’s overall an enjoyable and uplifting film. It made me cry.

Eh. It has its moments but it isn’t good, especially compared to the Del Toro films. Too much gore and swearing for no reason. I’m not a prude, it’s just that every time a f*** gets dropped or a head gets popped, it just feels like they’re doing it for the sake of being an R rated superhero movie. It’s based on a comic story, which sounds good, but it’s the last story in the series (a very weird place to START a potential franchise) and they take some liberties with it that make it a worse experience. An ok popcorn film, and worth it for a hellboy completionist (which is why I watched it) but as a movie, and as a hellboy movie, it just kinda flops. Here’s hoping crooked man will be good and revitalize hellboy movies.

Now this is a hellboy movie. I really liked the first one but this ratchets everything up. More action, more comedy, a more fleshed out story, (even if it is kind of dumb and generic) overall creating a better hellboy movie experience. Definitely watch the first one first, you won’t be disappointed, but this is better.

This isn’t a masterpiece. This isn’t the godfather. But it isn’t trying to be. It’s trying to be fun. And it is. Good action, funny lines (and stupid quips that are the equivalent of dad jokes but they’re also fun) and a cool new take on the story of the comics while also being pretty faithful (in ways). But this isn’t my favorite hellboy thing (or movie). The comic series is great, and you should read it if you like this.

This movie is great. If you have the chance to see it, go for it, especially if if you love theater. This has good emotion and good fun moments. A great experience. It has some issues, but none of them outweigh the quality of this film.

The movie is good, but if you want to experience the outsiders, read the book. It’s a lot better a provides a lot more context to the story and characters. The movie is closer to a summary than an adaptation. The book is 5 stars. The movie is 3.5.
