Penguin is a disappointing movie of 2020. It has got all ingredients for a tight thriller but ended up in an absolute disaster with its weak, dragging screenplay and narrative technique. Brilliant cinematography by Karthik Palani is the only strong element which makes it watchable till the end. There is no impressive performance from the acting department also. Keerthi tried too hard for her role but ended up in kind of artificial performance on the screen. Go for it if you like to experience stunning visuals and quality sound track 1.75/5

Anjaam Pathira is an intense crime thriller in the recent time. Malayalam industry lacks such kind of thrillers and i would say this is one of the best thrillers in recent times after Memories. But I am little dissappointed in the end because whatever promises, surprises and intensity developed in the earlier part couldn't lead it in to a perfect finish. I strongly believe it could have been a much better movie if the writing department tighten the things in the later part of the movie especially in the mystery behind the serial killing aspects and the villain( serial killer) characterization. This movie has lot of resemblances with the Tamil movie Raatchasan. But I would say Raatchasan is more superior work compared to Anjaam paathira because of the terriffic impact it made in end sequences. This is what missing in Anjaam paathiray. Even if some flaws are visible, there are certain elements which makes it an exciting thriller movie. Midhun's narration technique is really impressive and together with brilliant visuals of Shyju Khalid making it in to an intense gripping thriller. In the acting department Kunjakko Boban scores as a psychologist used all his experience for this lead role. Another outstanding element is the stunning background score of Sushin Syam. This movie is technically brilliant in all departments. But it could have been a great psycho thriller if the makers concentrated little more in the writing department 3/5

Movie is not up to the mark. The concept is copied from Shutter island , a 2010 mysterious thriller movie directed by Martin scorses. It was a fantastic Hollywood movie no doubt. Athiran was going smoothly upto the first half but after that loses its momentum due to lack of credibility in the story line. Once it reaches climax you could see big loop holes in the story line and movies falls far away from perfection. Obviously it was a good effort by the director Vivek to create a mystery thriller. Up to a certain extent he has succeeded in it. But here the problem lies in lack of a solid and convincing story line . The crew has not totally copied Shutter island story. Instead of that they had taken the core concept plus hospital environment and applied it in to a different story that caused the main problem. Performance of Fahad fazil and Sai Pallavi steals the show. If you didn't watch Shutter island this movie will surprise you with it's stunning Climax twist. One of the worst Vikram movie I have ever seen. It's very sad to see that this highly talented actor committing this kind of movies. Overall it's a mediocre movie with shaky script and bad direction. The first half of the movie gave some promises which got shattered away in the second half and movie ended in total disaster. Cinematography of Srinivas is impressive. But Gibrans background score failed to impress. Vikram showed his superb flexibility once again. But he has nothing more to do 2/5. Avoidable

It was a strong come back by Mamootty through this brutally brilliant gangster flick. When the title rolls there was a special mention to Mario puzzo and Francis ford coppela who were the makers of old hollywood classic " The god father" . Bheeshma parvam is mainly adapted on God father and makers were mentioning that its theme has resemblance with Mahabharatham also. Sarkar was another bollywood movie which was also adaptation of God father. Bheeshma parvam starts off slowly. First half of the movie filled with many characters and each character possess depth in their mannersim. Its quite clear that this time Amal neerad came up with a solid script apart from stylish making. The dialogues were cleverly written and punchy in nature. Many of the dialogues pointing to an underlying back story and it was really good example for a classy script writng .The first half of bheeshma parvam can be considered as an excelllent part where Amal and crew set the stage for an explosive and exciting finish. So how is the second half of the movie? Well I would say it could have done little more better especially with negative characters in the movie. Sudev nairs don character gave lot of hope in the first half but in the second half hero over powerd him quite easily that was not digestable. Dileesh pothans polician also little under developed. In the second half especially in the last 30 minutes the writer/director could have little more concentrated to make it a more exciting finish. Obviously the ending was really good but there was more elements in the script which should have been used to make it more exciting like Godfather and Sarkar. In the second half at some points this stylish shots dominates over the plot which felt like a drawback of the movie Amal Neerad once again proved that he is the best available director to make this kind of movies in mollywood. Sushin shyam's background music was stunning but loudy in most of the times. I really wish he could have controlled bgm in some scenes. Parudeesa song is a really enjoyable one apart from other songs. Special mention to the art director who set up 1990s period and constumes quite flawlessly and crisp editing is also another highlight In the acting department Mammootty, Saubin Sahir and Shine tom chakko were in top form. Srinath bhasi was also quite promising. But Farhaan fazil and Sudev nair dissappoints. Good to see legendary actors Nedumudi venu and kpac Lalitha in their last movie. Lady characters doesnt have much role in this men oriented gangster drama. Because of that Nadiya moidu, Parvathi, Lena and Anasooyas characters didnt have much impact even though they did descent job Overall Bheeshma parvam is a mass gangster drama with some classy elements that should not be missed from theatre. Thanks to Amal neerad and crew for this excellent packaging

After Pettai karthik subbaraj joined with Dhanush in Jagame thanthiram. But this time the master director failed miserably and the movie is not upto the mark. A good plot of immigrants could have been converted in to a better cinematic experience but very much predictable,dragging and half baked script spoiled the entire fun. But still the narration techniq used by Karthik saved it from being a disaster. Another problem is the bad casting strategy used in this movie. Especially the decision to cast Dhanush in Lead role . Vijay or Rajni would be the ideal cast for this role as this is such kind of movie in which Karthik subbaraj deviated from his regular style just like Petta. So this kind of extreme heroism would be more suitable for the above mentioned actors . Malayalam actor Joju george as Sivadas annan performed the role with ease and this is one of the best thing you can see in this movie. Lot of violent type killing and gun shots reminded me some Tarantino movies. But Karthik really need to work out on his script if he need to deliver something like a Tarantino neo noir flick. 2.5/5
