Big fan of Ozark but this isnt even in the same class - everything is weak such as the dull lifeless writing and dialogue, Garner's paper thin unconvincing accent (she reports she often mixed up the 2 accents when filming which was obvious) and she seems to fall into the other character from Ozark fro time to time in both reactions, attitude and voice - it's disconcerting and unconvincing. Predictable story line with superficial drama. Collection of second - rate actors surround garner and it's obvious, and quite frankly unwatchable - looks like they rushed the whole mess and after Ep 1, its a hard pass - don't bother - try The Dropout w Amanda Seyfried - its fantastic and shows how it's done when playing an actual real person! This is junk.

Yes, dark and nihilistic, but where is the writing of the original series? The plot isn't even clear 20+ minutes in - yes, people died, tragedy but not much else - no subplots and richly drawn characters of the original - where are the perverse situations and novel fixes for his high-end clients? Dull flashbacks on issues we are already well aware of from the series. Painfully meaningless and dull. I doubt they used the same writers or they pumped it out quickly to cash in - unfortunate. Tired conflict of Ray and his father not enough to make a movie on. Quite forgettable and slow - dark lighting overdone, like most other components of this weak effort. This is junk and this from a screenwriting grad and teacher. Give it a pass - you won't miss anything.

The writing and dialogue is so predictable and hacknied, a child reading comic books could write it. Plastic performances by a mob of character actors trying to play leading roles. Hard pass.
