This is a fascinating show. Although sometimes the subjects are very weighty, there is always a positive undercurrent and a sense that all people are the same, have the same goals, same troubles in life. Even tackling death of a young woman is a teaching moment. Bringing together caucasians and Asians of different backgrounds in an attempt to merge people who have more in common than they do differences is well done. The tone of the town itself is troubling, and demonstrates how people of so many different backgrounds, rich, poor, those who live with daily violence, and those who lead lives that are comfortable with enough to eat, etc. live side by side and somehow are attempting to make it work. The idea of the town itself and the school is an inspiring one.
