I found this movie ridiculous from the start. It opens with the spy getting into a fire fight with many people. He's being shot at from every direction and manages to never get hit. Armed with only a handgun he defeats them all. Including a shooter who fires many rounds from the catwalk before the spy knows he's there. Of course the spy turns his handgun on this shooter and bam! So much for the shooter. Then the movie goes into scenes that you will recognize as very similar to other movies and tv shows. I admit that I didn't watch the whole thing. I found it that bad. It also relies on stupid comedy. I mean, what kind of spy feels the need to put a surveillance camera in the bathroom of a woman and little girl? Cheap jokes and lazy writing.

My 3 star rating is probably for much different reasons than others. One of the things that I keep thinking is can the character George stop whining and crying all the time? And the scene that has George hurt, and of course whining again is when he discovered that Mitchell (a very long time ago) had a flat mate. Poor George exclaims "You mean you had a flat mate before me?" Whoever is trying to make George seem sensitive has no idea what sensitive is. Next, why can't Annie change her clothes? She makes tea, coffee and does a multitude of other things but can't change her clothes? Also, can the writers make her (assuming they have some idea of what they're trying to make her) be that without her running her mouth so much that viewers can mute her without missing a thing. Lastly about Annie.. decide if you want her orange or brown. Just pick a color and stick with it. Now, about Mitchell. Hire someone who can work with his hair. In the episode when he meets Josie his hair is the way a primary school girl would wear it. In modern times is just a greasy mess. I realize he's supposed to be the "hot" vampire but between the hair and clothes he looks like a sloppy, dirty mess.

Anytime I see Mary McDonnell in the cast I seriously consider watching. Anytime I see Alfre Woodard I definitely will watch. This is a movie with painful stories told in a quiet and heartfelt way. I understand the F bomb being used in the beginning. Mary Alice's emotions were so raw that she had to let out a word that will carry those feelings with it. All in all the movie never short changes by going for cheap sex scenes or unrealistic situations.

I never watched a soap opera before but now I understand how people get hooked. I've watched it on tubi and I cannot believe that it has ONLY season 1! To put on a show that had 27 seasons and only carry season 1 is the dumbest thing I ever saw. Shame on them

This is the kind of show that stays with you long after you've watched it. It shows the gritty and often cruel side of life but also the compassionate and loving side of life. I especially appreciated River's partner and the way he views River. The finale is one of the best I've ever seen. I appreciate writers that are outside of Hollywood. Hollywood writing is lazy and always takes the easy way out with sensational scenes that are worthless. River also has a wonderful cast. Anything the actors who play the main characters are in is worth at least a try.

A wonderfully written and acted show. Not only do viewers get a look at what the convicts went through, you also learn how many of them were sent on false charges. Having learned what the "justice" system did to so many, it's no wonder that, when given the chance to return to England, they decided to stay. And why wouldn't they? It was their city. They built it, suffered it's growing pains. I'm not sure I would recommend it though because it was cancelled after season 1 and everything was left unfinished.

Such a well written and well acted show is very rarely seen. Adding to the tension of the subject matter, the writer gave actors only the parts of the scripts they needed which led to real reactions during filming. I read that only the actors in the revel scene received the script the night before the "who done it" scene.. Although the cast had spent much time speculating amongst themselves who was guilty, there was real surprise and shock when the time came. I doubt I'll see this show matched.

Many people have said this movie is slow moving, most saying it's too slow. I think the pace is actually a gentle one. It's a beautiful movie. The reviewer who said the writing is bad (giving the example of "women can stand 9 times more pain than men")and then launches into a study done shouldn't watch movies meant to make a viewer feel something. This movie will make you feel if you let it. It's a lovely story and should be taken as it comes. If you can do that, you'll be better for it.

Critics can pick apart this movie all they want but I loved it. The cast does an excellent job in a movie that is touching and sentimental. No violence, no fear, no gloom and doom. What more do you want from a movie?

If you look at movies, like many critics, from an academic view, if you need everything shown and explained, this is not the movie for you. If, however, you can open your mind and allow a movie to take your emotions on a journey, you will love this movie. It's beautiful, sentimental and a true escape.
