Definitely NOT a vastly over rated film. This movie is a must if interested in human psychology, or the treatment of mentally ill people.
While our treatment of the mentally ill has gotten better since the release of the film, some people are still treated like this in institutions. 1975 was not long ago.
The movie also sheds light on how everyday people also have mental illness. Nurse Ratchet being the prime example, shaming someone with anxiety and self-esteem issues when they were CLEARLY getting better.
Also Hetvi Shah review is false info. Shock treatments are still used and the film is not to degrade the mentally ill, but help them by showing how badly mistreated they were.
