A piece of work that can only be described as marvellous & telling. Everything can be summed up in that one line at the end-'So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.' Gatsby's character exemplifies sincerity & innocence. He stands out as a symbol of love in this ruthless world. Daisy & Tom are portrayed in Scott's own words-careless people, smash things & creatures up, and let other people (in this case, Gatsby) clean up the mess they had made. This book awakens us to the times we are in.
