I almost quit watching in the first hour. But I really wanted to like the remake at least as much as the original. The minute Paul lashes out at his mother is when the movie starts getting real. I don't know what the first 90 minutes were about but it felt artificial with suppressed acting. My guess is PG-13 is not what it used to be in 1984.
