I agree with the critics. This movie was tedious in the extreme, and ultimately sad, with an ambiguous ending that just makes you feel frustrated and cheated out of 111 minutes of your life.

I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing. It can't be read as a stand alone novel. It leaves one glaring mystery unsolved. Why did DCI Marlow take early retirement? I hate cliff-hanger teases in novels, even if the author plans a whole series with this thread running through it.
