Unfortunately this documentary is a great example of the state of our science institutions today. Bias has been painted all over this documentary. It isn't even ashamed of it or tries to hide it.
Most of the series focused on everything but the actual study. You already knew what results they were going to share with you by the second episode, as the motives of the creators and professionals filmed, became objectively clear.
There are a lot of gaps in the logic the series is trying to sell you. For example, vegan being cheaper. They don't do proper breakdowns of how they got to that conclusion. By their own admission, you need to eat more vegan food to meet your caloric requirements. They don't delve into if it's more difficult for a typical person to eat all of that extra food in the first place, let alone if it's enough. Most vegans need to supplement if they don't want their bodies to breakdown.
Their study is also flawed in individual execution. The results are useless because there were no strong controls on how each participant ate or excerised. For half the study, they were allowed to eat whatever they wanted on what equates to a pinky-swear that they will stick to their given diet for the study. Exercise was also not equal.
I can keep going. Like how 8 weeks is incredibly short for most scientific studies. And especially ones on human health. Longterm effects? Nada. Not even mentioned.
This was mostly a 4 episode ad for a restaurant, and a few businesses involved in plant-based imitation food.
Disappointing.
