At first I felt impatient as I had little to no real interest in any of the characters, all of whom felt singularly unpleasant and irrelevant, However, I read it in AuduoBook form and fascination with the brilliance of the reader, moving between a multitude of characters in this kakeidescooe of a contemporary Dickensian London, drew me in. I have just finished listening and feel satisfied, moved and in awe of Andrew O’Hagan’s achievement.
