The warning is there! The parallels with Hitler are compelling .We cannot be complacent or we are doomed . Not a movie to make you sleep well, but one you should watch!

The technical achievement in bringing back 100 year old movies is astounding, but the carnage and the bloody bodies of men and horses, the repetitive scenes of cannon fire and shrapnel bombs, the horror of it all were too much for my taste. I kept hoping it would be over , and though it was just a little over an hour and a half, it felt like it was 3hours long.

It was very well acted with great cinematography. It’s not a happy movie , and some scenes are hard to take . It reminds me of the early Italian movies of the 50’s .. gritty , very real. If you want something to lift your spirits from the current political situation , You might want to skip this one.
