Just a brilliant book in every way. The characters, the stories, the exquisite writing and use of words, the wisdom, the food and wine are just amazing. Plus surprising turns and moving moments are superb. The ending chapters are just so absorbing, possible and marvellous. It really is a story that shows how totally bad and rotten a regime like the Soviet Union was.
