Persons Peculiar

I haven't seen this but I highly doubt it's better than the 1962 original. That film is quite possibly the greatest film ever made.

This movie is miraculous!!! It is a reminder of the power of movies: The power to touch our hearts and to inspire sympathy and empathy. A call to our humanity. Like stars on earth simply moved me. Only four films have brought tears to my eyes; Toy Story 3, It's A Wonderful Life, Dangal and Bicycle Thieves. As I write this I'm swiping my eyes after having watched this brilliant movie. No Hollywood movie made nowadays can produce such a human film. Sincerity has long left LA LA Land. It's very assuring to find such films in Bollywood. Watch It Please. Especially if you have or know of children struggling in school. CARE for them and remind them that are stars with limitless potential. Hopefully before the world convinces them that they are worthless, useless, stupid, ugly,etc. And, most importantly, before they start believing them.

The Other Dude... Inherent Vice is a vibe not meant to be a crowd pleaser. The uninitiated will feel confused, lost, and confused. I think of it as a good movie that's just not for me. It has a certain melancholy that touched and had me wondering if there is more below the surface.Invoked by the amazing, poetic narration and Doc's perpetually sad or brutally damaged ex. Then i received cold hard slaps telling me to not think about it.The cinematography is bewitching. The cast is impressive. The plot is bananas as if written by an emotional Nolan. Maybe the film wants you to just hang out with it. Smoke some grass and chill. It was a bad trip for me but remember that not all trips are created equally. I love The Big Lebowski and I think this movie is missing The Dude's rug. Something to tie it all together. To make us care about Doc and company. PTA is a remarkable filmmaker and I look forward to watching more of his films. This one was a miss for me. I recommend Punch Drunk Love. Check it out for yourself but beware of the X rating. Auf wiedersehen.

Great movies give us something new. Bad movies give us clichés. Good movies remind us why the cliché worked in the first place. Green Book is a good movie. Thanks to the stellar performances by the two leads. The horrible history behind the movie is only mentioned, not meditated upon. The real story is about how we are all first primarily human. All differences are secondary. And, I think, that is a message that could never be a cliché. Whatever race you are, the message still stands. Everybody must watch this film. On a funny note - this fantastic work comes from part of the same mind that brought you 'There is something about Mary', 'Kingpin', 'Shallow Hal' and 'Dumb and Dumber'. I'm going to watch 'Driving miss Daisy'. Auf wiedersehen.

Dreaming For better things In Rising Arizona, we meet H.I (Charming Nicholas Cage) who is a convenience store robber but a very nice guy. Maybe he is just lost. Well, during his "visits" to the penitentiary he falls in love with Ed (beautiful Holly Hunter). H.I abandons his lawless days and prepares for his childrearing days but Ed is barren. Holly Hunter delivers the best performance in the movie as a distraught woman in desperate need of a baby. As the plot advances, H.I and Ed steal a baby and from then on much chaos ensues. I laughed twice (during a wife swapping scene and a freezing scene) and just chuckled through the rest of the film. Metaphorically this is the Coen brothers in their infantry.They have potential and I think this film is them acknowledging that. They knew better things were coming (The dude). Just like H.I's dream. You should watch it to better appreciate their later films. Not bad but not great either.

If you have watched Notting hill or any romcom movies, then you have seen Always be my maybe. It is a story of love found and lost, faulty characters that need fixing and fill in the rest. If you are a hopeless romantic like me then you will like it anyway. The characters are likable and awkward. And the guy speech in the end was sweet ( I'm definitely going to remix it and use it ). Go watch it with low expectations and you'll enjoy yourself. Hopefully this movie leads to more diverse movies like it but better. Please White Hollywood be Diverse Hollywood. John wick was unexpectedly hilarious, to paraphrase H.E.R, he was the best part.
