The original of the film Nayakudu was made in Tamil as Maamannan and I don’t know the tamil language. This movie was luckily dubbed into telugu my native language. I have watched the movie yesterday along with my wife and son. The director of the movie is Mari Selvaraj.
It’s a relief after watching continuous pointless violence and comedy films. Director has put good effort in writing the film and directing.
There are lot of good metaphors in the movie. Pigs , piglets , horses and dogs. Pigs show about powerless , Dogs shows how cruel the people can be. The dog breed is Mudhol Hound seems to perfect fit with their sleekness in the movie. Horses and the villan shows for his power to control the surroundings.
It’s good to see actors acting skills instead marketings alone and punch dialogues that became a norm now a days. One think I liked about this movie is that a scene is not ending abruptly. Some of the scenes are prolonged. The poem in the trailer is classic, its ending goes like this, *==searching for the ears which are willing to hear the truth==* it is being written by nagnamuni a telugu oet. There are multiple poems through the movie sung by Vadivelu. This film is not perfect in any sense. Ending leaves many questions unanswered.
The plot is simple and effective. The story is also about simple things like lower caste person unable to sit before an upper caste person even though he is a MLA. I experienced these things first hand in my village. The casting of vadivelu as MLA dalit was awesome. This seems to be because of writer got sick of showing such great actor in terrible comedies. And also after watching Thevar magan (Kshatriya Putrudu) not liking how it dealt with upper caste domination. This is rebirth of vadivelu role in Kshatriya Putrudu where he is obedient servant of Upper caste family. Fahad Fasil as villain is so good, his sleek and attire captures the politician life nicely and brings menace to the character.
