This movie is a must see in theaters. It builds of the first film in all aspects from character development to its creative blend of visual styles. The best word to describe this film is awareness.
The writers, visual artists, sound artists, directors, and actors each in their roles were extremely aware of their responsibility to the story, the characters, and the audience. I can only imagine how each group collaborated internally and cross-domain to harmonize to make such an endearing story with such an exquisite visual palette. Thank you for not just making a sequel cash grab! This is the best animated movie I've ever seen! Great work, y'all!
This story is about family and found family. It's about parents loving their children and their children knowing they are loved in-spite of adversity. It's about loss, the struggle to rationalize, and the means to reconcile it. It's about self-awareness and empowerment. It's funny in keeping with spider-man quips without seeming forced. Yes, more spider-cat please!
The blending of visual styles surpasses any format I've experienced in film, a museum, or an installation. There were times when I felt like I was in a painting as the paint was being applied. I also loved how the characters would ebb and flow from 2D sketches to detailed 3D renderings.
I was uncertain at how the spider-verse would be explored. I was pleasantly surprised at how creative the writers and directors embraced the concept in such a novel way.
The score was the icing on the cake. The use of song and instrumentals to punctuate each scene lures the audience more into the moments shared between the characters or in a character's self-reflection.
Go see this movie on the big screen! You won't be disappointed!
Thanks to all of those who had the courage to make this film! I can't wait for what comes next for Miles, Gwen, and friends!
