Simply disgusting and evil and disturbing and twisted and shows you everything thats wrong with the human race. How can I begin to fathom how excruciatingly painful some scenes are? It goes to show how cruel humans can be, how disgustingly vile and evil one can treat a fellow man, how you would be stripped of shame or self respect. The film's unapologetic and graphic scenes are not for the faint-hearted, as Pasolini pushes the boundaries of conventional cinema to provoke thought and discomfort. The explicit imagery serves a purpose, intending to shock and engage viewers in a contemplation of the film's underlying social and political critiques. While this artistic choice aims for impact, it introduces a level of toxicity, especially when depicting extreme acts involving adults, prompting reflections on Pasolini's mental state during the film's production. The film's unsettling content, coupled with the involvement of young underage actors, adds an additional layer of complexity. Despite recognizing the movie's artistic style and its underlying commentary on fascism and human cruelty, it becomes evident that some viewers may find its extreme nature challenging to endure. It invites reflection on the abuse of power, the erosion of morality, and the consequences of unchecked authority. 'Salo' is a haunting and thought-provoking piece of cinema.
