A wonderfully written book essential for anyone interested in the history of Anglo Indians. An impassioned account of the trials and tribulations of a community on the decline after having seen halcyon days during the Raj era. A community which felt betrayed by the British who left them in 1947 and who were the reason for the very existence of community. Though many of the community did establish themselves in civil services, armed forces officers and in the railway services, majority of them went into decline by imbibing more of the vices of their ancestors (British) than their virtues. The general populace looked at them with disdain and at times contempt further alienating the community from the mainstream. The community had to constantly struggle against their own identity as also the preducises against them. A treasure of a book for all those who are aware of such a community or whatever remains of it.
