It's a complete bastardization of established lore in history in the Halo universe. Hell they can't even get the time period right it's supposed to be 2552 when in reality these events would have happened around maybe 2530-2540 at the latest, you can tell that they only have the most serfsce level knowledge of halo and it's lore, the only way I could stomach watching the first episode was because I decided it's not cannon.
