- This ain't a Country album. This is a "Beyoncé" album
I think that is the best way to describe what Beyoncé is doing here. There are tracks that are obviously not traditional country like 'II HANDS II HEAVEN' and 'TYRANT' which are rnb songs but have country influences in lyrics or some part of the instrumentation. She's not only using country influences in her music but also redefining what country is and teaching us it's roots. The lyrics are mostly about her own experiences. For example in '16 CARRIAGES' she sings about her sacrifice to create her legacy, in 'PROTECTOR' she's telling us how much she loves to be a mother. That is showing a very personal side of her.
Sonically it give me chills to consume her masterful vocals and harmonization. The instrumentals are just so thought out and you can tell her and her producers have been having fun in the studio making this body of work.
This album is part of something bigger than just Beyoncé "wanting to be country" cause she's always been country come on.
Just give it AOTY already.
