The cynicism of some of these negative reviews should be ignored. I find all of Ken loach’s work well worth watching and stands out from the rest of the crowd. The Old Oak is a great watch and will tug on your emotions all the way through. I thought this film had a less directly political message and a greater emphasis on the positives of the human spirit and how we can all benefit from helping each other.
