The nonsensical ending comes out of nowhere and mars an otherwise amazing game. I enjoyed most of it, I had fun and will probably play it again eventually. The way they decided to do the ending the way they did makes me wonder if people who didn't play the original will have any idea what's going on by the time the credits roll.
