Too much of a mix of styles. Heavily indebted to Hitchcock, the treatment of the sixties storyline just doesn’t sit well with the supernatural theme. Even the presence of Tushingham, Stamp & Rigg feels more like “we’re so grateful” than homage/something intrinsic to the story. Sadly, Wright just doesn’t handle it expertly enough despite a decent budget and some clever design touches.
