This is one of the most brilliant “series” I have ever seen and it rivals films by the greats. Black and white was an excellent choice for a film set in the 50’s and an homage to the great films of the 50’s and early 60’s. Cinematography….WOW! Every frame of this film is impeccable! The supporting cast was perfect in portraying unlikeable, arrogant and privileged characters who had everything, yet failed to live their lives. I was ready for one character to receive the “blunt object” long before they did; (what an arrogant little twit.) This is in direct contrast to Scott’s psychopath who seems to care more about living than they do. I didn’t read the book or see the Hollywood version with Matt Damon. I wasn’t bothered with a mature and intelligent cast; (it’s not like the book you say…no film ever is.) Nor should it try to imitate the Hollywood version. Use your imagination and appreciate the directors approach, don’t expect it to be how you expect it to be…where’s the fun in that? Enjoy the new experience with a different “type” of cast….it works. How refreshing to see a series without a bunch of low IQ 20 something’s with shallow lives and short attention spans.
