Wow. Just came out from theatre watching the most iconic villain "Joker".
I would define Joker in 5 words : Dark, Sympathetic, Brilliant, Natural & Disturbing.
There is a reason I started this review with a Wow. Because that's the word I said right after finishing the movie and in a right sense it was hard to digest the birth of one of the most dangerous villains of DC.
Joaquin Phoenix made me look at the Joker for each and every second of the movie. He's a cynosure of the movie without any supporting roles. He single handedly carries the movie and lives through it. I cannot describe his acting - even his bones, muscles and veins did the acting for him. I won't ever forget the way he ran, laughed and stared at someone. I am a huge fan of him from now on and gonna watch each and every movie from Joaquin.
Todd Philips was an unheard name for me and what a time to deliver. He will make you fall in love with this villain. The journey of Arthur aka Joker is dark and at the same time sympathizing. The writer was brilliant and cinematography was natural. Though it has some disturbing scenes, I feel this movie is a masterpiece and will be talked about for decades.
I really hope this movie and Joaquin wins Oscars. Also, don't compare Joaquin to Heath Ledger because this two Jokers have different transitions in them. This one is the birth of Joker and that was a well established psychopathic villain.
I would love to rewatch this movie, one more for Joaquin.
