!!! GROUNDBREAKING/ INFORMATIVE/ RELATABLE !!!
Adult brown men being the majority of 1 star reviews really does say something. It's either Kamala has too much freedom or not enough freedom. That she should be a hijabi and not have male friends (THINGS WHICH DO NOT CONCERN THEM) Mate, this is how it is for real. The spectrum in beliefs and appearances of brown families and individuals is very broad, especially in the West. This show does a terrific job in striking a balance, showcasing elements of Desi culture and Islamic practices whilst maintaining Marvel's creative direction.
Not to mention, showcasing historical elements of the 1947 partition and cleverly intertwining them into the plot. A feat no fictional or Hollywood produced piece has ever embarked on. Also, the show exhibits current desi music and visual artists too! Also also, touches on both positive things like the beauty of sharing your culture with white friends as well as negative things like how toxic aunties can be.
Ms Marvel may not be relatable for all, but it is especially to a significant number of young girls who were never represented. Yes it may not fit your life exactly (ahem adult men ahem), but you need to be more open minded if your appreciation for the show is limited to your personal views on how a young girl should live her life.
