The animations were absolutely AMAZING, they used the same art style from the movie but made it 10 times more detailed and it was beautiful to see. However I found this to be the only good part of the movie. Its as if all the budget for the movie was spent on the animation and none on actually writing the plot. The characters personalities are wildly different from the series to the point where if they didn't look the same, I would think they were 2 different characters. It's as if the writers of the movie had never seen a single episode of the series and were just told half of the main factors from the series. The majority of key parts from the series weren't shown in this leaving me with SO many questions. For example how did the city get fixed after everything and why did marinette never use her lucky charm??? Why was there never an object to release the akuma from and why did they practically have to kill the villains in order to save them??? None of it made sense and the whole thing felt very dark and twisted and drastically different from the series. I understand that they didn't want the movie to be identical to the series but you atleast need to keep the main story line the same and the key parts of the series the same. The storyline was just way off from what the series was and every 5 minutes the movie contradicted what we were shown in the series. The ending was just a massively rushed mashup of things we have been wanting to see in the series, but again with it being so rushed, there was no real time to explain or understand what was really happening. There were about 3 different key moments we have been wanting to see in the series crammed into the space of 15 minutes at the end and the jump between each scene left me with whiplash. This movie has left me massively disappointed as I'm such a fan of the original but the direction they have taken this movie is just too far away from the series, ultimately leaving me with more questions than answers. If you changed the physical appearance of these characters and changed their names, I would've tought this movie wasn't even related to the series. Its dark and twisted with no real happiness shown in the movie but at the same time is incredibly dumbed down. The relationship between ladybug and cat noir is all wrong aswell because there isn't any rejection shown between them. In the series cat noir is all over ladybug and she has to gently brush him off with banter but there's none of that in the movie. You see cat noir flirting but ladybug doesn't do anything to reject his advances and this just takes away half the fun and loving side of their relationship. Marinette has been made into a self-conscious bullied mess and it's nothing like the marinette we know and love. It's like they've taken her character from the strong independent yet clumsy character we know and love into a complete dumpster fire. Overall I'm left incredibly disappointed and underwhelmed by this movie and feel that they strayed way too far from the original series, however the animations were beautiful.
