While I have been a fan of Sam Jackson for many years, I have to say that his acting never really touched me emotionally. That is all taken away by his astounding performance in "Last Days". He is sad and touching in his dementia, and celebratory and intimidating in his recovery. Easily his best performance and worthy of recognition. Dominique Fishback as his caregiver Robyn is up to the task of facing off against Jackson and holds the screen very well in their scenes together. The cast throughout is spectacular.
The show is written and produced by Walter Mosely. If you are a fan of his work (my husband is a rabid one), you know that gives you snappy dialogue, well-rounded characters and involving mysteries to solve.
I heard an interview with Jackson where he said he had tried for years to get this story made, but nobody was interested in a story about a black man with dementia until the streaming services had a crying need for content. Don't make that mistake yourself. DON'T MISS THIS SHOW!
