This so far is a great bit of television. Reminds me of Spy Game, the underrated Robert Redford / Brad Pitt film.
Not sure why the Guardian seems to think it's boring. The reviewer clearly struggled with the plot, which to be fair is a blink and you miss it type of show.
I loved Slow Horses, but this has a level of polish and intelligence that viewers of that might find hard to follow. Slow Horses is a very 'BBC' production, even though on Apple TV.
I'm only two episodes in and can't wait for the next one. I'd recommend anyone to watch the first episode and not get chills as the credits roll.
