This movie is a fashionable nonsense. In the first two movies of her element trilogy (Fire and Earth), the director Deepa Mehta does a fairly decent job. However, this third and the ultimate one fails short. It contains serious distortions of history and that could be intentional! Overall, the movie's superfluous and exotic narrative fails to portray the true situation of the Hindu windows abandoned in Varanasi, and also fails to portray the complex political situation in British India during late 1930's. The movie's depiction of Gandhi as a sort of messiah is often exaggerated and most unconvincingly stated.
