Harsh reality of the westward expansion. I like that this movie has no music to cue us emotionally, it isn't that type of film. The acting is incredible, the characters are unforgettable. It is not the typical western by any means, it's gut wrenching overall but yet ends on a hopeful note that life goes on, even though we have been forever changed by our life experiences.
