It's a failed attempt to show the complicated phase parents go through in the final years.
The title character has many flaws such as:
1. Doesn't take care of his best friend in his lonely last days and is instead very busy with his own life/kids/parties.
2. Gives euthanasia to his best friend instead of putting the bare minimum effort into trying to save his life. No clue what the director was trying to solve/show here.
3. The key inflection point of the movie where parents get hurt with just one misunderstanding between a lovely daughter and an even more lovely son-in-law (and conveniently ignore the snubbing from their daughter-in-law/incompetent son), makes you wonder if such parents brought their miserable state upon themselves with their pride and egos.
Only saving grace of the movie is Brahmanandam's character arc and his acting.
No wonder it didn't stand a change against a more genuine "balagam" built around same point.
