I was drawn into the movie by the first performance of Rami as Freddie in the opening sequence. I didnโt know what to expect and that made me settle on not expecting anything.....and I loved it. The acting performances, even if they werenโt true to actual Queen members personas, were great. This movie was fun to watch because of the acting performances; not to mention the amazing Queen music. Now....intimately, the film was about Freddie Mercury and it faired well in that respect. It touched on his family life, his Persian/Pakistani roots, his love life, his demons, and his love for music. For the two plus hours the film ran, I must say what more could you have asked for? Some wanted more of his sex life and tragic ending with aids. Some wanted more gossiping things like encounters with Bowie and so on. But how would that have made it a better film when the Freddie Mercury and Queen we loved were all about music? One of my favorite parts of the film is when the group was creating and using various unconventional things to make the Queen โsoundโ. I loved it. I didnโt want to see Freddie die, I wanted to see Queen alive and thatโs what this film gives; Queen and Freddie alive. Thumbs up.
