An astonishing ending for a well written book. I enjoyed reading the book almost all the way through the end, well aware of the controversy Lewis created with his interviews. It was truly bizarre to see how Lewis attempted to influence the public opinion whilst SBF is being tried in court! In the last chapter Lewis just completely changes the tune, now putting his weight behind the man who clearly was not driven by altruism.
I have come to suspect that the author had been paid or otherwise being compelled by a third party to take a stance for SBF. For example: How the hell did Michael Lewis not disclose the history of FTXs lawyer Dan Friedman, a sketchy character with a colorful past?
The books conclusion reads as if it was written by another, uncritical author than the sharp minded man who has made a name for himself as a brilliant story teller. A disappointment not only for the millions of customers who were defrauded by Sam, the sociopath.
